GCAE is currently accepting applications for the position of Director of
Genesee Pottery.
The Genesee Center for the Arts & Education (GCAE) is a unique
community-based arts organization. Made up of the Community Darkroom,
Genesee Pottery, and the Sunken Room Gallery, GCAE offers photography and
ceramics instruction and programming. GCAE also supports vibrant arts
outreach programs for Rochester's urban youth.
The Genesee Pottery Director is responsible for developing and
implementing programming, including quarterly classes and workshops,
outreach programs, and special programming for community groups, and
recruiting national and local workshop presenters. Duties also include
supervising operation of Genesee Pottery Gallery, coordinating media and
public relations, supervising Pottery staff, participation in grant
writing and fundraising, recording and tracking Pottery financials,
developing budgets, and submitting reports to the GCAE Board of Directors.
The Pottery Director reports to the GCAE Executive Director.
This position requires prior arts administration experience (preferably in
the ceramics field), computer literacy, and a high level of organizational
and leadership skills. B.F.A., M.F.A., or equivalent combination of
education and experience required. Experience with not-for-profits or
community arts organizations preferred.
